I found that pinging localhost on a W2K machine will not include the FQDN as it does on NT. You need to go into System Properties, Network Identification, Properties, More... and enter the primary DNS suffix for the computer. Now when I ping local host from a command prompt, I get the FQDN. Unfortunately, all of this still does not stop ST Links from stopping with the same error message that it can not find the host.
